We spend so much time planning Thanksgiving dinner that breakfast is often neglected. A good breakfast, though, is part of a winning strategy.

Starving yourself for turkey won’t help—especially if you’re charged with all the cooking. No one want to pass out face first in their gravy.

Here are seven breakfast recipes to start your holiday off right.

1 Make-Ahead Frittata Squares with Spinach, Tomatoes and Feta: The egg lovers in your house will dig these make-ahead frittata squares. You will love them because there’s no crust involved.

It’s a simple process of chopping, whisking and assembling right in the pan. Cut baked squares as people arrive at the table, and reheat leftovers to your heart’s content (I could see this going from breakfast to lunch very easily).

This frittata also feels vaguely healthy in comparison to perhaps how the rest of your eating will go for the day. Hey, it’s about balance, right?

2 Overnight Oatmeal: Overnight oats are not a new trend, but let’s face it: anything you can put into a jar for a grab-and-go situation is always a winner. This is especially true on Thanksgiving morning.

Make this oatmeal the night before in the fridge and let it set overnight. You won’t have to lift a finger for breakfast—except maybe to pop a jar in the microwave and grab a spoon.

Oats absorb a lot of liquid overnight, so by the time you’re ready to eat them the next morning, all they really need is some heating up.

3 Huevos a la Mexicana: And now for something completely different, a flavor combo that doesn’t typically make its way into the average Thanksgiving dinner spread: Huevos a la Mexicana.

These are Mexican-style scrambled eggs with jalapenos, onions and tomatoes. A little chopped cilantro over the top elevates this quick dish into something a little more special for the holiday morning.

4 Green Mojito Smoothies: Breakfast can’t get much faster or easier than whipping up smoothies! These green smoothies are made from kale, coconut water, pineapple, mint and lime. They’re a real zippy eye-opener, too.

The addition of avocado yields a creamy consistency, along with a bit of fat and protein to keep you satiated until it’s time for the main event.

5 Cheesy Zucchini Bites: Small, cute foods get a second look during the holidays because they’re so easy to make and distribute to the masses. These bites are baked up with zucchini, eggs, cheddar, parmesan, lemon and rosemary.

These freeze and reheat easily, too, so if you’re feeling ambitious, make them a few days ahead of time and heat them up Thanksgiving morning.

6 Blueberry Buttermilk Pancakes: The morning of a holiday feels celebratory, and pancakes feel like the ultimate indulgence. These ones are a total classic and come together in a flash.

You can even assemble the dry ingredients the night before. Cover the bowl and leave it on the counter so it’s ready to go and you don’t have to fuss with measuring when you’re half asleep.

7 As-You-Like-It Breakfast Casserole: Here’s a good one to make with all the leftover odds and ends from your Thanksgiving meal prep. Throw in a few mushrooms, some greens, the crusty ends of bread, and bake it with eggs and cheese. Breakfast is done and your fridge is cleared out for the day ahead!
